Avery Mills, intern

Meet Avery Mills, a former CompBio Academy student who is interning in the Roth lab this summer!

What school do you attend?

Johns Hopkins University (incoming freshman)

What is your program of study?

Biomedical Engineering

What will you be working on for Dr. Roth this summer?

I am working on three projects with the end goal of developing comprehensive variant effect maps — which map the genotype-phenotype relationship of almost all possible amino acid substitutions in a protein — for the genes TNFAIP3UGT1A1 and ACADM.

What are you most excited about for this internship?

I am excited to be back doing benchwork this summer, as I love working hands-on with my projects, and I am excited to get to know everyone in the CSB department!

What is one fun fact about yourself?

I love building things! I was on two robotics teams for four years as a designer, I have an extensive Lego collection (including the Colosseum), and I also built my own PC last year.
